When we talk of organic gardening, the basic things that come into our minds are plants. Growing plants and taking care of them, we have this thinking that aside from watering the plants and exposing them to sunlight, part of the primary jobs in gardening is fertilizing the plants. Also another thing that we feel obliged to do is to use pesticides to protect our plants from being eaten by pests. There is, however another way of gardening which does not use these two, using fertilizers and pesticides, this is called organic gardening.
In organic gardening the soil is being replenished as it is being used by the plant. In the organic gardening philosophy, it stresses that there is a right kind of soil for every plant, increasing the health of the soil without the use of fertilizers and pesticides and working with nature to be able to produce the best kind of plants there is. Applying this to the hydroponic gardens, this now gives birth to hydroponic organic gardening.
Organic Gardening – Pesticides
The best pesticide substitute is your diligence. Yes, you will have to inspect you plants every now and then to prevent insects from eating the entire plant. Of course if you have a large garden with many plants you would have to accept that you will not be able to protect everyone absolutely. In organic gardening, the best line of defense is you yourself against those little pests that threaten to harm your garden.
In hydroponic gardens though, your job is reduced to monitoring only the flying pests, the crawling pests are now totally extinguished because there is no more soil on where they can crawl on.
Organic Gardening - Fertilizers
The fertilization process on the other hand in geometric will be substituted by simply taking care of the soil. The simple logic behind this is that it is in the soil where the plants get their nutrition so if you keep the soil healthy enough, there will be no need to use fertilizers
In hydroponics, however, there is no soil to take care of. So organic gardening in hydroponics is not totally absence of fertilizers, but manipulation on the components of the fertilizer. Instead of using the usual artificial fertilizers and dissolving them in water, you will be using natural organic materials and this will be the nutrients that your plants will be absorbing.
